# Update Project

> Rename a project and configure its settings.

Project **Settings** cover everything outside the report canvas — name, default date range, theme, cover page, header, sharing, and PDF export options.

  <Step title="Open the project">
    From the client's **Projects** tab, click the project you want to edit.

  <Step title="Open the Settings tab">
    In the project editor, open the **Settings** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Rename">
    Edit the **Project name** field. The new name appears on the shared link, in PDF exports, and in the email subject when the project is automated.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the default date range">
    Pick a fixed range or a relative range (like *Last 30 Days*) — every widget that uses the project-level date inherits it. Changing the range refetches every connected data widget.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure cover page and header">
    Toggle the cover page, header, page numbers, table of contents, and thank-you page (reports only), and choose what each shows.

  <Step title="Configure PDF export">
    Enable PDF export, and for reports set the paper size (A4 or Letter) and orientation (portrait or landscape). See [PDF Export](/automations/pdf).

    Click **Save** to apply.

<Note>
  A project belongs to the client you create it under, and it can't be reassigned to a different client. To report on the same structure for another client, recreate the project under that client — or save it as a [template](/templates/add) first and apply it there.
